No. 30 Syracuse (8-5, 2-5 Atlantic Coast) has struggled to get back on its feet during its mid season slide, falling to No. 42 Clemson (7-5, 4-2 ACC), 4-3 on Sunday.

The Orange started the year 7-0, but has fallen in five of its last six games. Four of those games have been on the road and SU has each of those matchups.

Clemson won the lone point available in doubles play, which proved to be the deciding factor in SU’s loss. The two teams split the singles matches, 3-3.

Gabriela Knutson rebounded from her early doubles loss. Entering the match slated to play No. 17 Joana Eidukonyte, Knutson pulled away in the second and third set, winning 1-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Anna Shkudun and Dina Hegab bounced back from their recent struggles as well. Shkudun, who lost four of her previous five entering Sunday’s meet, won 7-6 (7-3), 6-0. Hegab, who dropped three straight before the meet, won 6-3, 6-4.

The Orange finish a five-game road stretch on Saturday against unranked Central Florida. SU will return home the following Thursday to take on No. 4 North Carolina.
